FROM THE VINEYARD

Single vineyard, Waitaki Valley. Limestone-based soils spread through river gravels. Maritime influenced. One hundred percent Pinot Noir. Clones UCD5 and Abel, planted in 2005 at 5,000 vines per hectare.

IN THE CELLAR

Whole-bunch pressed and fermented cool. Ten percent of the blend spends three weeks in French oak, one to four years old, then returns to tank. No fining, sterile filtered.

IN THE GLASS

Watermelon, wild strawberry and white flowers. Pale, dry and long, with the acidity to carry it.

Q Rosé is best enjoyed young, when its freshness and vibrant fruit are at their most expressive. A portion fermented in French oak brings texture and depth, while the natural acidity of the Waitaki Valley gives the wine the structure to retain its character and freshness into a second summer.

AT THE TABLE

Fresh salmon, grilled seafood or sushi and lovely with chilled seafood and long summer lunches.
